Freedom is what every teenager wants more than anything, isn’t it? We long to go where we want, do what we want, and be who we want to be, without anyone telling us what to do.
But you may wonder, is it even possible to be truly free? Is anybody free from his responsibilities? Can anyone do just as he pleases all the time or will there always be obligations to fulfill? No. Even if somehow you could have everything you ever want, you would never be free from yourself, your past, your regrets. Every single person in the universe who is older than, say, four years old, has done things they are sorry for, and every person wishes they had done some things they haven’t. People who “do as they please” often feel the most trapped of anyone. We are enslaved to a fallen world, to our own desires, and to sin.
But surely there’s some way to truly be free? Yes there is! His name is JESUS!
Without Him, there is no freedom. We’re all tied down in the long run. But Jesus Christ paid the price for you when He died on the cross for your life. He alone brings true freedom.
You might not see how you can be so valuable, but Jesus sees you as worth the greatest price imaginable – His own life! When He sees you, He sees no ordinary person. You, my friend, are uniquely gifted and created in God’s image. You are radically loved by the One who made you. All He wants is a deep and personal relationship with YOU.
He’s already made a way for you to be free when he suffered incomparable torture, and died. For YOU! Not just for everyone on earth, but YOU PERSONALLY! He took the blame and the punishment we deserve. He paid the price for your freedom! It’s over!
And now He’s looking at you with nail-pierced hands and feet, just begging you to accept this free gift. He wants you to be free more than you do yourself! If you accept Him today, it will bring Him such boundless joy, but if you deny Him, He’ll be filled with sorrow. He just loves you to bits no matter what!
So will you accept Him today? Will you invite Him into your life? He will forgive you of everything you’ve done and regret, setting you free forever!
Do you want to live in boundless joy and love for eternity? It’s a gift that God is offering to you. Pray and ask God for forgiveness for your mistakes, and He will forgive you. Ask Him to come into your life today, and He will. He will be your Lord, He will be your Saviour, He will be your best friend forever and ever. He will wash you clean, and set you free.
Amen.
To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
JOHN 8:31-36 niv
They answered him, “We are Abraham’s descendants and have never been slaves of anyone. How can you say that we shall be set free?”
Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.
